Fulbright Program in Vietnam

2006 New Century Scholars Program
THEME: “Higher Education in the 21st century: access and equity”

Summary:
The Fulbright Program in Vietnam – Public Affairs Section – U.S. Embassy Hanoi is pleased to announce the competition for the 5th Year of the Fulbright New Century Scholars Program (NCS).
NCS is a global program that annually brings together 25 – 30 research scholars and professionals from the U.S. and participating countries around the world.
Through a series of three plenary seminar meetings and a Fulbright exchange visit, scholars engage in collaborative thinking and multi-disciplinary research on a theme of global significance.

Research Theme:
The 2006 program will continue the theme of Higher Education with a specific focus on access and equity.

The following three sub themes will be examined in depth:
• Cultural and Societal norms that affect access and equity
• The role of K-16 in limiting or advancing access to higher education
• The resources and policies that provide greater access to higher education

 Orientation and Goal Setting Meeting
 Research Exchange Visits begin

July/August

 Mid-term Seminar

March 2008

 Concluding Seminar

General Eligibility Criteria:
All candidates for the program must
    • demonstrate outstanding qualifications
    • have a record of experience and accomplishment in an area clearly related to the NCS research theme
Note: Individuals in all disciplines are welcome to apply so long as they are conducting current research directly relevant to the theme and are open to exploring international and interdisciplinary approaches to their investigations.
