VIETNAM PROGRAM OFFICE

Background

Vietnam is becoming an increasingly important development partner of the United States. The U.S. established the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Office in Hanoi in 2001. The office is part of the Regional Development Mission/Asia (RDM/A) based in Bangkok (Thailand) which serves as backstop platform for programs in several countries in Asia, including Vietnam.  Vietnam’s programs focus on the following Strategic Objectives to be implemented over the period from 2005 to 2010:

  1. Improved Regional Governance and Economic Reform
  2. Vulnerable Populations in The Region Assisted
  3. Increased Effective Regional Response to HIV/AIDS and Infectious Diseases
  4. Improved Regional Environmental Conditions
